Mise-en-scene and cinematography for the opening of "Kiss Me Deadly"
At the very start of this film the camera angle is a high and a mid shot is used.In this shot the audience would be able to see that there is a person running without any trousers or shoes on, in night. The audience would know that this scene is et in night because they would be able to see that it is very dark and there’s hardly any light to be found. After that shot another mid shot is used on this lady however in this shot you can see the upper part of this lady’s body and you can see her face. In this shot the audience would now be informed that she is only wearing a coat. This can tell the audience that she may be very cold or it could tell the audience that she’s hardly wearing any clothing because the lady could be running /escaping and wants to travel light and not with a lot of weight. Her hair out could represent that she is careless and not bothered. Then an extreme angle is used to show the audience where she running to also it could let the audience know how fast/determined she is running. As she runs forwards she stands out more because she’s getting closer to a light. She then turn around and turn back this lets us know that the light was from a car that just drove passed her. Right after she missed the car she carries on running and running until she sees another car coming from the far distance. A long shot is used to show the audience a car is coming her way. Then a long angle is used behind the lady and in front of the car from this show the audience would be able to see that her arms are open wide in the middle of the road. By the lady having her arm stretched wide open this could symbolise a way of needing to be rescued. A POV (point of view) shot from the car because from this shot the audience feels as if they are going to go crash into the lady. As the shot goes closer the audience is able to see her eyes are tightly closed - as if she was ready to die and be gone.
The car stops and in the car threes a man who was also the person driving the vehicle. A tracking shot is used as the lady slowly walks towards the car. This shot makes the audience feel as if they are the person that is walking to the car. While the man talks to her she consistently carries on breathing heavily. The heavy breathing was caused by her constant running from before - when she was attempting to find cars and stop them. The man eventually realised that the lady out of breath for words and wasn't able to speak he then invited her into his car. When the lady finally stopped her heavy breathing a extreme close up shot was used to show that the audience he has just turned the radio off. By the man putting the radio off this could lead to him wanting to speak to her because she is no able to speak . Close-up shots were used as they spoke. This shot was used so that the audience would be able to see both there facial expressions as they have a conversation.
My Film Pitch
The Manipulator
A widower escapes prison while looking for a new life and love.
In 1935, a mad woman from Chicago called Zula (Emma Stone) was sent to prison for the murder of her husband (Donald Sutherland) and her son (Nick Robinson). After one month she escapes but makes a new identity to look for a "new life" and "new love". All the while Detective Ace (Ed Westwick) tries to capture her, as she breaks hearts all across America. However Zula makes a new love interest in her murderous rampage across America with the Detective Ace and as she begins to fall for him, as he gets closer to uncovering her identity. She must choose whether to be honest and risk arrest or kill her new love and run again.
The targeted audience is teenagers/young adults 15+. My film would attract this audience because the plot is unique and gripping. The actors staring in this film are well known and teenagers would want to see the in my film because they have probably seen them in other popular films. My film is similar to 'Kiss Me Deadly' and 'Laura' which are popular film noirs. My film would be successful because like 'Kiss Me Deadly' there's a crazy lady and like 'Laura' my film uses a deceiving women. Their plots are alike mine because there's uses of manipulative and seductive women these type of women are common/conventional in the film noir genre. Rain and dark lighting would make the atmosphere frightening; cigarettes and guns would make the atmosphere more dangerous.
I have chosen these actors and actresses because some are looked as honourable and they would appeal to a wide range of audiences. Donald Sutherland won two Golden Globe Awards in 1995 and 2002. Emma Stone was nominated for two Golden Globe Awards and one Academy Award. By having these actors in my film that were nominated for these awards shows that they are really good and well-known.

MY FILM NIOR DIARY
Week 1:
We created storyboards that linked to our film noir pitch, we had 20 frames to fill with detailed drawings of what the first 20 shots would be, including the production company and credits. We had to incorperate mise-en-scene and cinematography into the drawings to make sure the examiner can in-vision the same opening as mine and see why i had done some things for effect.
Week 2:
We started to figure out who will be in our movie and what character they'll play. We then started to find out the locations and costumes we will use in our movie to create a deeper meaning and make the movie more effective. We were finding the music that we thought fit the scene we were aiming for, we went through some jazz music. We chose a musical piece which wasnt used frequently as that is quite annoying to hear when in multiple movies.
Week 3:
We had started to film in the desired locations and experiment with cinematography, lighting and props.
Week 4:
We had to refilm some scenes and start editing. We used a dolly to get moving camera shots and a bright lamp to create shadow effects on his face.
Week 5:
We have finished editing and we have started to record voice overs and now we are adding credits and checking fluency and flow of the shots.
